It's amazing how many labels and buzzwords are being banded about when talking about digitisation and how many different ways there are to describe it. Phrases like Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, even digitisation can lead to confusion. One thing I believe for sure, is that the lessons of this pandemic have certainly brought technology to our attention and made us realise the benefits.
When I describe digitisation, I am more likely to uses phrases like 'Operational Improvement', 'Leaner Operations', 'Continuous Improvement' and 'Operations Excellence'. To me those phrases better explain what digitisation is about. It's not all about gadgets and gizmos, it's about making life easier and assisting businesses to flow better. I came across a definition the other day which I think explains all of the complex things SmartTime does.
“definition: A branch of engineering which deals with the optimisation of complex processes by streamlining the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems around people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, analysis and synthesis, as well as the mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such processes.”
So... put basically, SmartTime takes a simple approach to improving how an organisation runs to minimise waste. Beware all the buzzwords out there... they can be a little daunting.
