Ever since I was young I remember the sheer joy I used to get in making things. Working on SmartTime is fundamentally about creating solutions to problems. At the end of the day, I create something that didn’t exist that morning, and that is in itself satisfying.

Its not all about me

However the pleasure of making things that are useful to other people is just as rewarding. One of most satisfying aspects of my job is seeing my code deployed in a live system and used by actual people, especially if it improves their lives in some way.

As part of the SmartTime team we are always learning, we have a great togetherness which springs from the nonrepeating nature of the job. While we construct the program we are constantly expanding our understanding of both the problem and the solution.
Finally I sometimes see myself like a poet, working only slightly removed from pure thought-stuff. I like to imagine I am building real things from my own imagination.
